We had an entertaining performance of The Little Mermaid today!
The story was one that we all knew but it was such a great experience for us all having live entertainment with real actors! The costumes were colourful, the music was loud and I really liked the way the actors asked the audience questions to keep us engaged! It was a mesmerising performance!
What did you enjoy most about the performance?
Today 3A visited one of the prep grades to share our recently published picture story books. We had been looking forward to doing this! The books were written with a younger audience in mind and we think that the preps really enjoyed listening to our stories and seeing the pictures that matched the words.
What did you enjoy about sharing your Picture Story Book?
We all felt a bit sad that the final day had come because camp had been just so awesome!! The final morning was really fun though because after we had packed up we got to go for a walk to feed the animals. There were horses and donkeys that we hand fed. We also fed the cattle. We then had a go at yabbying and could not believe it when we actually caught some yabbis!!
After a long walk around the land we saw the rainbow trout jumping then back for lunch!
Everyone was really appreciative and showed gratitude towards the teachers who had taken the grade 3’s on camp; Mr Haslem, Miss Merret, Colin, Miss Jordan, Mr Burdess and Mrs Kebbell.
Today we were lucky to have Gerrard Cafe from School Performance Tours come to our school. He told us stories about Australian history and folklore. He explained to us that these things have shaped our identity. Many students were able to go up onto the stage and participate. There was a didgeridoo, sheep shearing and lager phones to make up a bush band.
We learnt about Bush Rangers and some students got to put a tucker bag and billy on the swagman as quickly as they could!
Gerrard told us about Australian heroes including the Anzacs, lifesavers, firefighters, farmers and sportspeople. This complemented this weeks character strength focus on courage. Heroes are people who have believed in themselves and had the courage to reach their goals often when faced with adversity. They are people who others look up to and admire.
Gerrard sang songs and read some poetry. He was really funny, we laughed a lot but we also learnt a lot!

What did you like most about the performance?
On Friday we welcomed many of our parents and grandparents into our classroom. It was great to share some of our learning. The students performed poems that they had learnt during the week. We shared our Barwon Heads history projects with our families, played maths games and estimated blocks in a jar. It was great to have so many parents write on our blog! Thank you so much for visiting our classroom!
Today we are looking forward to welcoming our parents into our classroom!

It’s the last day of term 1 and everyone forgot to get dressed when they woke up this morning! I can’t work out what is going on!?
What at are you looking forward to doing on your holidays?
This afternoon we did some Easter activities and some of 3A performed an Easter themed play. They performed with gusto and humour. Their expression and wonderful acting skills made us all laugh!

Today we began thinking about the things in life that we are grateful for……..
