Today we will be looking at the Positive Emotions area of our PERMA model. When thinking about positive emotions, it is important to think of the many words that we can use to express ourselves and by doing so, develop our wellbeing literacy. This is similar to learning about reading, writing and maths literacy and having the ability to express oursleves in these areas. For example, if we are feeling a certain way, such as worried, it is important to be able to tell someone and know the word that represents how we are feeling!
Interestingly, there are way more words for negative emotions than there are for positive emotions. This quick clip identifies ten positive emotions – the ones that I think are most important are gratitude, hope, joy and interest. Which do you think are the most important and can you add any to Barbara Fredrickson’s list?
Gratitude is good for you!
